We are all Election Therapists now.
Twelve more days until Election Day. TWELVE FREAKING DAYS. Sorry for yelling, everyone we know is on edge. But also, we see so much positive news! For all the anxiety calls, texts, emails, or smoke signals, every call or group chat or random meetup with old college friends ends with “so I signed up to knock doors in PA,” “so I sent 5000 texts,” “so I did a phone bank and it was actually fun!”
The other day, Maria Shriver talked to Kamala Harris about dealing with the stress:
“Everybody I talk to says, ‘I have to turn off the news, I can‘t read anything, I’m meditating, I’m doing yoga, I’m so anxious I just don’t even know, I’m eating gummies,’ all kinds of things,” Shriver said. “What are you doing?”
“Not eating gummies,” Harris said to hearty laughter and applause.” She went on to add: “I wake up in the middle of the night usually these days, just to be honest with you,” the Vice President said. “But I work out every morning. I think that’s really important ... mind, body and spirit.”
Good advice. Walk, meditate, go to the gym. Take a gummy if that works for you, no judgment.
