A huge thank you to everyone who showed up for our volunteer meet-up last night. The Power of Us is alive and energized and ready.

There’s a lot on our minds.
There’s no way to ignore the existential crisis our nation is facing. But at the same time, NJ is only 70 odd days away from our gubernatorial election. How many days until Election Day in US? An election that pits our four-term sitting Congresswoman against a MAGA-loving, hardcore Republican. You could say the stakes are high. We repeat, the stakes are high!
NJ 11th for Change has been here before. We know what it’s like to fight back against a Trump regime while simultaneously doing the hard work of getting qualified, dedicated, transparent, accountable, responsive public servants elected.
We can do two things at once. And the best way to fight back is to maintain our blue-state trifecta here in New Jersey. Indeed, we lose our voice at the table if we don’t. Because if that other guy gets the governor’s seat? He won’t listen to a word we say.
So what do we do RIGHT NOW? We take action.
Protect the vulnerable.
Last night we heard about what is going on at Delaney Hall from the extraordinary volunteers who are out there doing the work. Amy Ipp and Jim Price shared the chilling reality for families who have a family member detained. They come to visit and are met with uncertainty and fear. They wait in long lines in the hot sun and are subjected to capricious, nonsensical rules.
Many of these families have lost their breadwinner. Right now, the best way you can help is with gift cards to supermarkets. Last night we gathered over $500 from the generous donations of our event attendees. Want to help out? Message us for details here: [email protected]
Be visible. Be loud!
Protest is effective. It brings out new voices, it makes sure lawmakers know what voters care about, and it helps to grow our numbers. Last night we heard from tireless volunteer Fern Wolkin who told us about the work of the Visibility Brigade — a movement that started right here in New Jersey, and has now spread nationwide. We will share their local events each week in our events section. We will also include information about the weekly Sunday protest in Montclair and any large scale events as they happen. Elect Mikie Sherrill for Governor!!
NJ 11th for Change endorsed Mikie Sherrill for Governor back in late June and we are ALL IN to make sure she wins. Mikie owned this primary. Don’t let anybody tell you differently. Despite a crowded field, she won 15 of our 21 counties (insert the map) and walked away with 110,000 more votes than her closest competitor. Over the past four congressional cycles, Mikie Sherrill has lived up to our call for responsive, accountable, transparent representation. She isn’t just a good candidate, she’s a great candidate. We have been fortunate that she wants to serve the people of CD-11, and we’re fortunate now that she wants to serve the people of the entire state.
Our unique position
New Jerseyans all across the state are learning about Mikie Sherrill — but they don’t know her well enough yet. Do you know who knows Mikie Sherrill? WE DO! Her constituents, and the engaged volunteers of NJ 11th for Change!
NJ 11th for Change is in a unique position to educate the rest of NJ on what it’s like to be a Mikie Sherrill constituent. We have watched her grow from a friend and neighbor, to a rookie congressional rep, to a highly respected legislator and an accomplished, productive advocate for New Jerseyans. She holds town halls, she listens to differing opinions, she thinks before she acts. We have had a front row seat and now we need to share our experiences widely.

Canvassing!
It was great to hear from the Sherrill campaign team at our meet-up last night. Nothing says fall quite like pumpkin spice and walkable turfs! This weekend marks a campaign Weekend of Action. You know what to do: check out the events section below and get out there and influence!
Person to person, neighbor to neighbor, peer to peer. You know you are the political influencer in your social circles, in your community, in your group chats. That’s power. USE IT!
Your friends and family rely on you for info on NJ politics. Give them what they need: a “Power of Us’ card! Have you seen these yet? It’s got QR codes to help them contact their reps, sign up for our newsletter, and find answers to all their election questions, along with a complete list of election dates. We know how to win. NJ 11th for Change knows how to build the New Jersey we want to live in. We can do that — by electing Mikie Sherrill — at the same time we fight back against the national disaster.
