2020 Semet Endorsement

NJ 11th for Change is proud to endorse Gardner Semet, who is seeking election to the Pompton Lakes Town Council.

For Gardner Semet, a Democrat running for a seat on Pompton Lakes’ town council, “having the town government acknowledge problems rather than ignoring them” is a priority. This includes taking decisive action and requiring DuPont/Chemours to purchase properties from homeowners that they have polluted; taking aggressive action to remove soil and water from town by rail; and requiring DuPont/Chemours to pay tax on the value on the land. What’s more, Semet vows to finally address long-standing violations of building and land use laws and says he will push for overdue improvements to public transportation and utility services. Semet also wants police to be trained in clearly established use of force policies and for those policies to be reviewed by a committee made up of equal numbers of council members and citizens unrelated to members of the force.

If Democrats perform exceedingly well in Pompton Lakes, Semet will be one of just two Democrats on the town council. But Semet, a commercial real estate lender with an MBA from Columbia University, believes he can “demonstrate a competence…which should help me persuade others to support my choices.”

We are thrilled to support Semet as he works his way to victory on November 3!
