Governor Elect Sherrill (we love to write that) gave her final speech on the floor of the House yesterday, and announced that she will be resigning from Congress next week. In case you were wondering (of course you were wondering), Mikie’s signature on the Epstein discharge petition will still count after her departure from Congress.
Meanwhile, the clock starts now for the race for our new Congressperson. The eyes of the nation are on NJ’s 11th district.
Dates for the special primary and special general elections are still to be determined. We will explain it all as soon as there is definite information.
Under current law, the special-election schedule would put the primary in late January, and the general election in early April. HOWEVER: A proposed new law might tighten up that timeline somewhat. As we said: Stay tuned.
Sign up here for our NJ 11th for Change Candidate Meet and Greet Essex County Thursday, December 11th from 7pm - 9pm. Each candidate will be allotted equal time to introduce themselves and their platform to help you, the voters of the 11th, make informed decisions. Space is limited so secure your seat now.
By our count there are 11 Democratic candidates running as of this moment, and 1 Republican. We are scheduling a series of candidate events. As noted above, the first one is December 11th in Essex County. The Morris County Candidate Meet and Greet is Saturday, December 13th from 10am-12pm. Save the date for that one, signup details coming soon!

As has always been our policy, NJ 11th for Change will not endorse in this or any primary elections.
Though we will not endorse, we will actively support robust participation in the primary process and encourage you to investigate, research, and make your voice heard with your vote.
We are still thinking about last week, gotta say. And those coattails on Mikie and the BLUE WAVE! Lots of great results everywhere. Every county (even Ocean County!) swung bluer. And we flipped FIVE counties. Did we mention BLORRIS and BLEVEN? Blue Morris and Blue CD 7!

Here in NJ 11, that includes Marisa Sweeney’s win in LD 25 (the top vote getter, leading our old ‘friend’ Aura Dunn! And just yesterday, we heard that Pulkit Desai won his race for mayor of Parsippany by 77 votes. WE DID THE WORK AND WE WON.
Say it with us: EVERY VOTE MATTERS.
