Dear Supporters

Over the past 4 years, NJ 11th for Change has launched dozens of political careers. We’re not just talking about Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill, either, for whom we cleared a path by scaring off Rodney Frelinghuysen. We’re talking about our own grassroots members!

SCORES of you have run for office after becoming politically engaged with us, and we couldn’t be prouder. Our members now run for every office in New Jersey: from municipal party committee member to town council representative, mayor to county commissioner (formerly ‘freeholder’), New Jersey State Senator to General Assembly member.

This year, we’ve got a bumper crop of candidates, especially on a municipal level! Please join us on Monday, June 7 (the night before the primary election) at 7:00 pm for a très relaxé Defending Democracy open house (on Zoom, natch) to meet some of our favorite mayoral and town council candidates!

SPACE IS LIMITED! Register here, and we'll send you the Zoom link!

Among our guests will be:

  • Cori Herbig
  • Judy Hernandez
  • Christy Lazarow
  • Michael Soriano
  • Kate Barry
  • Mark Gyorfy
  • Tara Olivio-Moore
  • Kim Mazzie

... and more!

Who's that masked man? That's Parsippany mayor Michael Soriano,
with his running mates Judy Hernandez and Cori Herbig!

These wonderful people share our values and have long been our allies. We’re just crazy about them! Come hear what they all have to say about this year's race, what they plan to do in office, and why it’s SO DAMNED IMPORTANT to vote your ballot all the way down the ticket, not just the topline races.

Register here to get the Zoom link!

That's not all, folks!

NJ 11th for Change is getting ready to fill up your calendar in other ways, too — and soon! Here are some highlights:

  • TWO MORE DEFENDING DEMOCRACY EVENTS IN JUNE! You won't want to miss our June 15 discussion about a hotbutton racial justice issue in honor of Juneteenth (featuring Ryan Haygood from New Jersey Institute for Social Justice), or our June 22 presentation about I.C.E. in N.J. and how immigrant-detention issues are hitting members of our own communities (featuring immigration law specialist Kathy O’Leary). Keep your eyes peeled for more info soon!

  • 2021 CANDIDATE ENDORSEMENTS! Once the primary results are in, we’ll be starting our endorsement questionnaires and interviews! We will be streamlining the process, inviting nominees to talk with our group and asking active members to chime in about which candidates should earn our seal of approval!

  • NEW POSTCARD CAMPAIGNS! Our 'new residents' mailing list and script will be ready by the end of the week — AND we have groovy new NJ 11th for Change postcards to distribute to volunteers! Ready to get writing? Email Stacey, with “POSTCARDING VOLUNTEER” as the subject line. Even more postcard lists will be available after the primary election is over.

Thanks to Ray Caramanna for designing these beauts!

  • IN-PERSON TABLING EVENTS! After the past year-plus, we’re so excited to be able to even consider in-person volunteer opportunities like tabling at farmers’ markets and other CD 11 hot spots. Local events offer a chance for us to really connect with our communities: register voters, get folks signed up for VBM, and get them informed about what's at stake this election. Not to mention, they’re tons of fun, out in the fresh air. Interested? Email Leslie, with “TABLING” in the subject line!

NJ 11th for Change limited edition masks will be available for tabling volunteers!

  • NATIONAL-LEVEL LETTER-WRITING CAMPAIGNS! We are again collaborating with our partners at Working America — this time to write letters to voters in Virginia, the only other state in the nation with elections for governor and the state legislature this November! More than ever, we understand how crucial it is to control statehouses if we want to achieve our democratic goals. We know we’re not the only ones watching in horror at the shenanigans in Arizona or the attacks on voting rights in Texas. Interested in joining this project? Email Mara with “WORKING AMERICA” in the subject line!

This year's elections are incredibly important if we want to protect our values here in NJ.

Please join us in these exciting efforts!

Your contributions make our work possible! In 2020, donations allowed us to make almost 160,000 voter contacts in New Jersey's 11th congressional district; our efforts were a big part of making 11 towns flip from Trump in 2016 to Biden in 2020, including some historically deep-red municipalities. Even Morris County turned blue!

Your generous donation goes towards our data analysis and voter-file access, text banking expenses, support for our events, printing, and much more. It allows us to continue our work building a government that is transparent, responsive and accountable. Please visit our "DONATE" link and pledge any amount. Every contribution helps as we charge ahead into 2021 and beyond!
