New Year's Resolution

New Year’s Resolutions? We got you covered!

As we say in our mission statement, NJ 11th for Change fosters an engaged and informed community. To that end, we are excited to share our comprehensive CD 11 Special Election Voter Guide! The guide features video presentations from all 12 candidates running in the Democratic primary. There are 24 short, easy to watch segments from both our Essex and Morris candidate Meet and Greet events in December, plus links to every candidate’s website, and a complete timeline of important voter information.

Our suggested resolutions:

Send our Special Election Voter Guide to at least 11 friends and neighbors in January. This election is somehow both a bellwether for 2026 while also flying under the radar of most voters in CD 11. Our job? Spread the word!

  • Make sure your friends and neighbors know about the election, and what’s at stake.
  • Alert them to the election timelines–Early Voting will be more important than ever, considering the possibility for winter weather disruptions at the polls.
  • Remind everyone you talk to that Election Day is on a THURSDAY. Thirty-six days to February 5th!

If you are in a position to donate to NJ 11th for Change, your contribution will go directly to cover the cost of events like the Meet and Greets featured in our Voter Guide. We hosted 600 in person attendees, and have hundreds of views for all the candidate videos on our YouTube playlists. It all costs money. NJ 11th for Change is completely volunteer run and your donation will help us continue to advocate for all people of the 11th district.

And make some time to reflect. It’s been quite a year. Dizzying doesn’t even begin to describe it. One would think that the response to the barrage of hideous news would be for us all to run for cover.

BUT. That’s not what happened. At all.

In January, we responded to the start of Trump’s term by gathering two packed van loads of donations for the Human Needs Pantry and Toni’s Kitchen.

In February, we organized rallies and meetings at Senator Booker’s and Senator Kim’s offices.

And then we joined the first of the massive nationwide protests:

In March, we hung out at one of our favorite Irish bars to outline our plans for the year. Including, ahem, the race for Governor.

We co-sponsored events with both Attorney General Matt Platkin and Governor Murphy:

We stood in the rain in April to say HANDS OFF our democracy!

We co-sponsored events like this candidate forum:

In May, we stood with Ras Baraka and LaMonica McIver to defend the rights of our immigrant friends and neighbors.

So much happened in June, where do we start?

We turned out for another massive protest–NO KINGS! Did it rain again? Yup. Did it matter to the thousands of people who showed up at events across the district? Absolutely not.

In July, we caused Good Trouble:

In August, we got to work, launching our general election activities back at the Irish bar:

We held a zoom town hall with Senator Booker:

In October, we finally got to hold No Kings Rallies on a perfect sunny fall day. 24,000 people in Morristown and Montclair just for starters!

We tabled, we canvassed, we phone banked–

We gave Senator Kim one of Dani Pardo’s I Like Mikie For Governor stickers!

We gave Senator Booker one of Pat Berry’s I Like Mikie buttons–

And then, in November, this happened:

Y’all, WE WON.

CD 11 by over 15%!

MORRIS by over 2%!

And CD 7 too!! (look out Tom Kean Jr.)

We were just a teensy bit excited:

December, no time to rest on our laurels or savor our victory. We held a Candidate Meet and Greet for over 300 people in Essex:

We held a standing room only Candidate Meet and Greet for 200+ people in Morris:

So what’s next? Share our CD 11 Special Election Voter Guide with at least 11 friends and neighbors in January.
