A huge shout-out to the intrepid folks who joined us in the streets last week to protest ICE. Close to 150 of us turned out last Saturday in the pouring rain for our ICE Out of Roseland Rally —including a giant squirrel and a rainbow unicorn. It was wet. Really, really wet. But that didn’t stop us from chanting, dancing, singing, and crushing ice (literally).
A big thank you to our LD 27 Senator John McKeon and Assemblywoman Alixon Collazos-Gill who stood with us in the downpour. And another huge thank you to the town of Roseland, Mayor James Spango, and the Roseland Police Department for keeping us safe and protecting our First Amendment rights.
ICE Out of Roseland will continue to raise awareness of ICE’s expansion into our communities and develop ways to fight back. Drop them a note at [email protected] to get more involved. We know. We just sent a fighter to Washington last month with Rep. Analilia Mejia’s seismic win in the CD 11 Special Election. But NJ 11 has FOUR elections this year. We’ve only gone through two so far and we’ve got another primary in just over a month. Vote-by-Mail ballots are on kitchen tables right now!
You’ve probably heard by now that for this exceptional election cycle, NJ 11th for Change has departed from our long-standing policy of refraining from primary endorsements and has endorsed Rep. Analilia Mejia for both the 2026 primary and general election. So let’s get to work!
Join us on Thursday, May 7, 2026 and let’s get on the phones. We will be following up with folks who have received their mail-in-ballot but have not sent it in yet. The best kind of phone banking!
Doors open at 6pm, we’ll get on the phones by 6:30, and at 8, head to The Frog for a snack (you are on your own for whatever you drink).
PLUS, Rep. Mejia may drop in to say hello. Though her calendar is subject to change, our new congresswoman hopes to join us as we get to work, so get there early!
