The Republican House budget resolution that passed out of committee last week calls for $2 trillion in spending cuts to vital programs over ten years — and nearly $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid. Trump has blessed this spending blueprint — and Republicans aim to bring it to a floor vote this week.
Medicaid provides comprehensive health coverage to 79 million Americans and 1.8 million New Jerseyans.
The three Republican reps in New Jersey — Chris Smith, Jeff Van Drew and Tom Kean — represent 400,000 Medicaid enrollees between them. There’s reason to hope that ALL of them could be potential crossover votes on Medicaid! Why?
- Chris Smith voted against ACA repeal in 2017.
- Jeff Van Drew used to be a Democrat.
- Tom Kean is in one of the country's most tightly contested swing districts.
Join this phone bank action on Tuesday, and YOU could help turn one or all of them against these cuts.
