How Many Days Until
Election Day (Nov 8):

Our country is on the brink.

You know it, we know it, THEY know it … everyone knows it.

The election on Tuesday determines who holds power in Congress for the next two years, which — given the way the Far Right plays things – could mean the White House too, and the Supreme Court, and the states.

And it could mean forever.

So when our favorite candidates urge us to

what they really mean is

We’ve got four days left, and we can’t afford to lose a single winnable seat.

Here at  NJ 11th for Change, we know that everyone is worn to the bone from worry, from the feelings of futility, from the constant (and intentional!) barrage of right-wing horrors:

  • Armed vigilantes staking out ballot drop boxes.
  • A 10-year-old incest victim denied an abortion.
  • A hammer attack on an 82-year-old man.
  • A violent insurrection at the Capitol.
  • The N-word all over Twitter.
  • Book banning in schools.

It’s enough to make anyone feel exhausted and overloaded …

It’s enough to make anyone need a break …

… not to mention, some serious mental health care.

We all need a break.

We all deserve a break.

If you care about the future of this country — your own future, your children’s and grandchildren’s future — you need to take personal action over the next four days.

Simply casting your own individual vote is not enough. If we’re going to make this happen, each of us has to share the responsibility of getting OTHER like-minded voters to cast their ballots, as well.

If you need to hear it from a fella — or a politician — or, well, a nonfictional character — here you go:

What will YOU do to help get more voters to the polls? Here in New Jersey, we’re lucky. The key to victory here is simple: TURNING OUT VOTERS. We don’t need to have long acrimonious conversations at strangers’ front doors, trying to persuade lifelong conservatives to switch sides.

We just have to get people who already basically agree with us to get off the couch, fill out their ballots, and make their votes count.

Of course, that requires committed volunteers and activists like us to get off the couch first.

Or not. Text banking and phone banking are effective and easy to do from anywhere you feel comfortable — including the couch. Without so much as putting on shoes, you can remind voters about the importance of voting, and get them the information they need to do it right. (To text bank with NJ 11th for Change THIS WEEKEND and on Monday and Tuesday, email us here. We’re going to be chasing votes — and chasing them hard! Or check out the many text bank and phone bank opportunities in the Events & Volunteer Opportunities listings at the end of this newsletter.)

Speaking of effective work that can be done from home, from the comfort of your couch or your own dining room table: We must, must, MUST recognize our spectacular team of postcarders, who did an incredible amount of hard work, in record time!

THANK YOU, Postcard Team! You really are amazing.

But the next step is the most crucial — the action proven most effective in getting out the vote, especially in the final days of a campaign:

Talking face-to-face with people in our communities is far and away the best way to influence them to VOTE!

That’s why Mikie Sherrill and Tom Malinowski, both in hotly contested races, have jam-packed their schedules this weekend to get together with volunteers, meet voters, and canvass every corner of their districts! And they need YOU to help. Scroll down to our Events & Volunteer Opportunities section to be AMAZED at all the times, dates, and places you can choose from!

For example! To mark the final weekend of the campaign, Mikie is coordinating three exciting “RALLY TO LAUNCH!” events — one in each of CD11’s counties.

Senator Cory Booker and Governor Phil Murphy will be making appearances, along with some inspirational local candidates who need our support, too!

Volunteers can gather together, rally our spirits with Mikie and other exciting speakers, and then commit a few hours to the biggest, best canvassing CD11 has ever seen!

To learn more about these three exciting events, click here for Passaic County, here for Morris County, and here for Essex. NJ 11th for Change will be on-site for the Essex event. Look for our purple balloons to find us!!

We are so proud of all the hard work NJ 11th for Change volunteers have done over the course of this campaign season.

We’re almost there.

It’s time for that final burst of energy to get the job done!

Those of you who are watching the epic World Series battle between Houston and Philadelphia know: it’s all about commitment.

There is no jogging down the baseline hoping our opponent makes an unforced error.

If we want to win, we have to run through that base.

Now through Tuesday, please make every day count. Send some texts. Sign up for a phone bank. And most importantly of all: choose a shift to canvass!  Not only is it the most effective way to GOTV, it's also a great way to build up your spirit of optimism and faith in your neighbors and fellow voters!

NOTE: Our new Volunteer Opportunities webpage will always be updated with the current week’s roster of actions you can take to support our endorsed candidates: Mikie Sherrill (CD11), Tom Malinowski (CD7) and Andy Kim (CD3). Please bookmark it, and check it regularly!

Vote-Chasing by Text Banking

In the final days of election season, use your phone and computer to reach CD11 voters who are sitting on their ballots! It's fast and fun and very, very effective. No ballot left behind!

If you are interested helping, email us at [email protected] with "TEXT BANKING" in the subject line, and we'll get you all set to start.

We have voter lists up EVERY DAY. When we release a list, it tends to go FAST, because texts are just so quick to do, and volunteers whiz through them. So don't snooze!

Your contributions make our work possible! Donations allowed us to make almost 160,000 voter contacts in New Jersey's 11th congressional district in 2020, and over 130,000 in 2021; our efforts were a big part of making 11 towns flip from Trump in 2016 to Biden in 2020 (including some historically deep-red municipalities!) and securing a tight victory for Governor Phil Murphy in 2021.

Your generous donation goes towards our data analysis and voter-file access, text banking expenses, support for our events, printing, and much more. It allows us to continue our work building a government that is transparent, responsive and accountable. Please visit our "DONATE" link and pledge any amount. Every contribution helps as we charge ahead into 2021 and beyond!
