Transparency and accountability are core tenets of NJ 11th For Change’s mission. They are fundamental to everything we do, so we were pretty thrilled to hear Mikie Sherrill, our endorsed candidate for governor, flanked by LD 34 State Senator Britnee Timberlake and LD 28 Assembly candidate Chigozie Onyema, talking about just those things this morning as she launched her Transparency in Trenton plan.
Here’s a quick synopsis, and we especially want to call out this quote from reporter Fred Snowflack:
“Asked about OPRA, Sherrill said she opposed many of the changes, adding:
"Going forward, I am going to work to get more information out to people."
Continuing, she said that her plan "actually addresses much of what people OPRA the state for."
By that, Sherrill explained that by putting more information about state finances online, there would be less need for people to use the Open Public Records Act in the first place.”
Encouraging.
Folks, there are 52 days till Election Day. Mail-in- Ballots go out on September 20th. EIGHT DAYS FROM NOW. The only choice is to get Mikie Sherrill elected governor.
