We loved the energy we saw at the No Kings events across the district. We loved spending quality time with 6000 of our closest friends in Morristown. Talking to folks, we were heartened to hear that everyone understands the assignment. We are all focused on stopping Trump and his administration. NO KINGS. NO TRUMP.

Which brings us back to our special election. We are choosing who will represent us for the rest of Mikie’s term in Congress. The margin in the House is razor-thin, and every vote we can take away from Mike Johnson is a vote that helps rein in the horrors of this administration. We need to be clear-eyed about this choice. And honestly, it’s not complicated. NO KINGS. NO TRUMP.

We see Joe Hathaway claiming to be a ‘moderate’ these days.

WE DON’T BUY IT. The best possible scenario here, and it’s not great, is Rodney 2.0. The guy who hid from constituents and abandoned all his supposedly moderate positions in favor of lockstep loyalty to Trump and the Republican leadership. WE ALL REMEMBER THAT GUY. Worst case, we’re looking at a MAGA absolutist who doesn’t even bother to pretend otherwise before reaching for the Trump-approved rubber stamp.

Meanwhile, this is what 2026 looks like:

Friends and neighbors seized without warning, imprisoned and deported.
A disastrous war that is costing trillions of tax dollars, destabilizing a region, and making us unsafe at home.
Soaring gas prices and generalized economic havoc, even as millions of people have lost access to affordable health care.
A regime that’s high on hate—on racism, ableism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, xenophobia and the othering of anyone who doesn’t fit its narrow definition of who is supposed to matter.
The most incompetent cabinet in history, led by a president intent on destroying one institution after another.

A hard truth: No matter how ‘moderate’ or ‘bipartisan’ a Republican elected to Congress claims to be, they will vote in line with Trump. We MUST elect representatives who will stand up to Trump, Johnson, and the rest of them.

To see what a Hathaway term would look like, look no further than Tom Kean Jr. in CD 7–a representative who is AWOL from all conversations and accountability, and crucially, one who votes dutifully in compliance with Trump.

We cannot afford to elect a person like this to represent NJ 11. We need a representative who will FIGHT BACK. And also, a representative who embodies the qualities laid out in our group's mission statement. Someone who is transparent, responsive, and accountable. Someone who is fair, compassionate, and open to hearing and learning from all the people in our district.

That person is Analilia Mejia. A leader. An organizer who worked for both Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden. A soccer mom from Glen Ridge.

One of the things we appreciated most over the last seven years of Congresswoman Sherrill's time in office was how willing she was to hear from everyone. How accessible she was. If you were in the audience for her town halls, you saw her listen carefully to everyone who asked questions, whether they supported her or not. Her responses were always respectful, always thoughtful and measured. Did we always agree with Mikie’s positions and actions? Maybe not. But we knew she would listen to us and to everyone else in the district. Her door was always open. We are confident we will get that same support and responsiveness from Analilia, even on issues that we may disagree with. Hathaway will not care about any of our concerns. With Analilia in office, we know that we will be heard.

We believe in the Power of Us.

NJ 11, the republic is on the ballot. The rights of your neighbors and friends are on the ballot. The future of the next generation is on the ballot.

If you haven’t voted yet in the April 16, 2026 Congressional election–fill out your mail-in ballot and take it to your closest drop-box without delay! Remind your college students, remind your in-laws–get that voting done!

If you must use the US Mail for your ballot (absolutely no drop-box within reach) do it very soon, in case the mail is delayed for some reason.

If you already voted: Congratulations! You have done the most important job of a citizen, and still the easiest!
